FRIENDSWOOD, Texas—Five Clear Creek ISD schools were on lockdown Thursday afternoon while police searched for a burglary suspect in Friendswood.
The suspect led Harris County deputies and Friendswood police officers on a brief chase before bailing out of the car and fleeing on foot into a neighborhood around 1:30 p.m., police said.
The shirtless, tattooed suspect was believed to be armed.
The schools – Clearbrook High, Westrbrook Intermediate, P.H. Greene Elementary, Wedgewood Elementary and Landolt Elementary – were put on lockdown as a precaution because of their proximity to the search, police said.
Pearland police brought in K-9 units to help with the search.
As of 2:15 p.m., the suspect was still on the loose.
